Club Meets and Other Videos

Over the years, numerous videos have been created for club meets using additional images and video clips which give complementary accounts to the formal Meet Report. Videos have also been prepared for some other members activities. By sunset we had pitched tents at the beautifully situated but busy campsite on the shore of Llyn Gwynant and all were encouraged by the very promising forecast.

Showers failed to dampen spirits on the camping meet at the Stablefell Campsite at Marsett near Semer Water. The 14 members welcomed two guests and two prospective members.

Some YRC members’ outings during the first week of 2021. Some dusted off their cross-country skis, some got tooled up in search of some ice and others just hiked.

2020-03Morocco, Anti-Atlas, Tafraout
Curtailed by the Covid-19 shutdown, this meet in the Moroccan Anti-Atlas was a great success for the first week. For what happened in the second week you will have to read the Meet Report.

2020-02Snowdonia Winter Meet, Ogwen
Despite a poor forecast, a dozen met up near Tryfan and enjoyed an active weekend. Richard produced a fine meal including beef cheeks with leeks served with crushed spuds.

The usual Langdale meet had to be cancelled due to no drinkable water at our cottage Low Hall Garth but that did not stop some members and prospective members getting out on the hill.

The north west highlands (or Sutherland as it is called) has a powerful draw for members and once again hit on good weather in addition to the usual good food and good company.

Cold but sunny weather for those 25 attending the North Yorkshire Moors meet in Carlton in Cleveland. Seven out climbing and many out walking in all directions to the north, east and south.

A six-day self-guided hut-to-hut ski tour in the Jotunheim staying in DNT cabins. Chilly start as they woke up there the first morning, -31°C. Then typically -12°C in the day and -15°C at night.

A wintry weekend way up beyond Wharfedale and on the Dales Way. Icy roads to contend with but those who made it were rewarded with Bill’s lavish catering and a barrel of Landlord. Even Fleet Moss was frozen over.

We had heard about the many attractions of the Wind River Mountains; fabulous scenery, wild and rugged terrain for backpacking and spectacular granite spires for climbing. With a solar eclipse thrown in as well, this was the chance for the trip of a lifetime.
