Reciprocal Rights Huts

The following huts across the UK and Norway are operated by our kindred clubs and YRC members are welcome to book places for their private trips at preferential Reciprocal Rights rates. The list also includes the huts jointly operated by the BMC and Mountaineering Scotland.

¾ mile short of Wasdale Hall Farm (approaching from the main road) at the foot of Lingmell Gill junction with Burnmoor track.
Accom: 8 men, 8 women, 12 mixed and 6 campers.

1 mile beyond Buttermere Village towards Gatesgarth Farm on the Hassness Estate between the road and the lake.

LOW HOUSE – Midland Association of Mountaineers OS SD 302 972
Low house, Coniston, Cumbria. East side of the Torver Road, 200 yards from centre of Coniston. Accom: 24.
CONISTON HUT – Yorkshire MC OS SD 292 985
Copper Mines Valley, above Coniston. Turn west by the Black Bull, go beyond the tarmac, steep and rough.

GRANGE OLD SCHOOL – Climbers’ Club OS NY 251 176
In Grange village, ¾ mile after The Borrowdale Hotel turn R over the bridge and follow for 150 metres where the road turns right back to Keswick.

Ynys Ettws, Llanberis Pass on the Nant Peris side of Pont-y-Cromlech. Approached over a new bridge which is a prominent landmark. Accom: 18.

500 yards N.W. of R.W. Lloyd Hut and reached through the gate leading to Blaen-y-Nant Farm by crossing the second bridge and following the track to the right. Accom: 10.

In Two Dales village on east side of B5057, 2 miles northwest of Matlock. 200yds from Plough pub. Accom: 12 mixed.
DON WHILLANS MEMORIAL HUT – BMC OS SK 007 622
Rockhall Cottage, Upper Hulme, Staffordshire. Along track 400 metres from the road (no vehicle access). Overnight parking is in the marked bays on the road below the hut. Accom: 12 mixed.

Glen Torridon, SE of Liathach, about ½ mile from the road and immediately SW of Lochan an Iasgaigh.

Seven miles from Fort William at the head of Glen Nevis on the south bank of Water of Nevis. Access from the end of motor road by path, one mile to wire bridge, cross the bridge to the south of the river. Accom: 15 mixed.
CORUISK MEMORIAL HUT – JMCS OS NG 487 197
200 yds N of outfall of Lock Coruisk into Loch Scavaig. Access: (1) by boat from Elgol; (2) by boat from Mallaig; (3) by boat from Glen Brittle; (4) easiest approach walkers is from Kilmarie (2-4hrs) Accom: 9 mixed.

Situated at the foot of An Teallach at the head of Little Loch Broom, on the S side of the A832, 500m before the Dundonnell Hotel. Accom: 10 mixed.

From Newtonmore (just off the A9), follow the A86 for 7 miles to a turning on the right signposted Balgowan, just to the west of the west gate of Cluny Castle (don’t go up to the castle!). Take the single track road to the car park on the right, about 300 yards from the A86. Accom: 10 mixed.

0.25 mile to NW of Feshiebridge off the B970. Follow old A9 towards Kincraig. Track off Forestry Commission car park. Accom: 14 + 8 camping.
