YRC Huts

The club has two properties fondly referred to as ‘huts’.

Low Hall Garth is located in the Lake District and Lowstern is in the Yorkshire Dales. These can be booked by members and bona-fide guests from other organisations such as BMC and MS affiliated clubs:

Low Hall Garth

LOWSTERN is our purpose-built headquarters in the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage is considered to be one of the the finest premises for cavers, climbers and walkers in the Dales. Lowstern is in a secluded position in a small wood surrounded by farmland about half a mile from Clapham village, North Yorkshire. It is ideally placed for access to Ingleborough and its caves and potholes, with the other caving areas of Craven just a short drive away.

LOW HALL GARTH is our hut in the Lake District. Known affectionately as LHG, it is an old farmstead cottage situated above Little Langdale Tarn in a delightful and secluded position. It is owned by the National Trust and leased to the YRC. The Coniston fells can be reached directly from the cottage, as can those around Great Langdale by a rather longer walk across Wrynose Pass.
