Climbers are well-catered for on many of our meets. Those based at our own huts have crags close at hand. As the closest climbing hut, Low Hall Garth is ideal accommodation for those wanting to access some of the best sport climbing in the Lake District at Runestone Quarry – just a short walk away. Lowstern is ideally situated for the climbing on the limestone in the western Yorkshire Dales, Hutton Roof and nearby South Lakeland crags, as well as the gritstone crags to the east. Many of our mountain meets have crags near to our accommodation.
In 2025 we organised a meet with more of a climbing focus based at Rockhall Cottage, the BMC’s Don Whillans Memorial Hut which is literally built against the rocks of The Roaches. Read about the meet and the routes climbed in the Meet Report.

The club organised a four-day camping meet on the island of Lundy, principally for access to its fine sea-cliffs taking the ferry across from Bideford. Plenty more climbing was done on the excellent granite including Seal Slab (D), Alouette (S), Saturday Night (S), Sunday Morning (VS 4c), Horseman’s Route (HS), Stuka (VS), Captain’s Arete (VS), Hurricane (HS), Ailsa B (VS 4c) and Force Eight (S). You can read more about this trip in the Meet Report
and more recent events in the Meet Report archive.
