Rum is a wild unspoilt island with plenty of challenging hills and a rocky coast line with views over to Knoydart and the outer isles of Barra and Uist. The only place to stay is the hostel in Kinloch Castle, a splendid Edwardian shooting lodge built by the former owner of the island, George Bullough. The YRC Rum meet will be from Monday 3 May to Friday 7 May 2010. Transport will be by Caledonian MacBrayne from Mallaig on the Monday morning, returning on Friday afternoon. The hostel offers accommodation at £15 per night, with a three course dinner available at a further £15. We have reserved 12 places, 5 in a private room, and 7 in a dormitory. Self-catering is possible, as is camping. It is also possible to include trips to other islands, and a look at the Calmac website will give some idea of what is possible or please talk to Iain Gilmour. |
